Liaison with our third-party fraud resolution partners, Valera, provide guidance and assistance to our E Services Team as well as our Card Services Department.Work LocationThis position is located at Corporate Headquarters in Downtown Baltimore. Incumbent will be required to report in office for this role. Upon completion of 90 days, incumbent may work hybrid schedule.EducationHigh School Diploma – RequiredGeneral Education Degree (GED) – in lieu of H.S. DiplomaExperienceMinimum three (3) to five (5) years – Financial Service IndustryTwo (2) years – Risk Management/FraudAssociates Degree in Business/Criminal Justice, PreferredQualificationsDetail orientedKnowledge of Industry Fraud trendsPrior experience in fraud detection and/or investigationsAbility to work with others and communicate investigation results clearly with external partiesMust be available to work flexible hours and respond to incidents if necessaryBe able to make a decision in an emergency situationAble to write detailed incident reportsEssential FunctionsThe person would share primary responsibility with team members for monitoring MECU's ITM/ATM surveillance camera system to detect the use of skimmers.The position requires an active liaison with Valera, our third-party fraud resolution/dispute team and assist with other fraud avenues used by subjects who commit thefts against MECU CU.The position requires the person to work alongside other Fraud and Security Department team members to assure ITM/ATM transactions deemed unusual are reviewed to assure no illegal activities are being performed, i.e., capture cash-out transactions for people utilizing our ITMs/ATMs to launder money from compromised Debit, Credit, and ATM cards.The person would investigate reported suspected ATM transactions reported by our third-party vendors FICO utilizing MECU cards, which may or may not have been used at MECU terminals.Monitor non-card financial transactions made through the CU to trace theft or forgery and other financial crimes.Have the forethought to take appropriate actions if a positive fraud detection is found by following approved procedure and policy in place.Identify trends through prior reported card losses to determine a compromise location.Monitor HELOC, FICO suspect reports generated daily for unusual or suspect transactions.Stay up to date on emerging fraud trends. Educate team members on processes and be able to update processes if warranted to keep up with changing schemes.This person would cross-train with other Team members and become familiar with various other Fraud functions to be able to serve as a backup in the event of team member absence or vacation.This position will require the applicant to work flexible hours including weekends and in an emergency respond to suspected machine breach.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this position, the successful candidate is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, keyboards or controls; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel.Must regularly lift and/or move files and equipment up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pound objects.
