Job Title: Associate Vice President for Capital Facilities PlanningCalifornia Institute of the Arts (CalArts) is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Associate Vice President for Capital Facilities Planning to provide expert leadership in the ongoing development of its campus.Job Summary:The Associate Vice President of Capital Facilities Planning (AVP) reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer (SVPFA/CFO). The AVP serves as a leader on campus and in CalArts' broader communities responsible for advancing the physical development of facilities that enable education, performance, administration, and the housing, dining, and living programs that sustain its students and faculty.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive capital facilities planning strategy to support the Institute's academic and administrative goals.Provide expert guidance on the planning and design of all capital projects, including remodel, renovation, and new constructions.Manage the development of a new capital facility master plan and subsequent triannual progress reviews and updates to the plan.Serve as CalArts' chief design official and building official, maintaining the Institute's aesthetic standards and regulatory and agency code compliance.Collaborate with the Vice President for Facilities Development and Management (VPFDM) on issues concerning construction project management.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related technical field.10+ years of capital facilities planning and development experience.Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Proven excellence as a financial steward and ability to manage projects in ways that allow for flexibility and correction.Working knowledge of facilities and familiarity with safety management in a complex organization.
