Viking Travel Care was launched in 2023 as a new service area for Viking Assistance Group.We are now planning an expansion of our services and will establish our own in-house medical team and medical assistance services.
In relation to this, we are looking for a medical physician with long experience from travel insurance alarm center and assistance, who would like to help us build up and take responsibility for the medical aspect of our service offering.Overall job descriptionThe chief medical officer (CMO) will have the professional medical responsibility for Viking Travel Care.The position shall support Travel Care Management to ensure that medical processes are well-functioning and compliant, in line with best medical practice, and secure the fulfilment of contracts and agreed service levels, and that the customers (patients) feel safe and satisfied.The role will lead the contact doctor team in Viking Travel Care and will also function as a contact doctor.ResponsibilitiesProfessional medical responsibility in Viking Travel CareCompliance of medical routines and processesOnboard, lead and train the team of contact doctorsManage, support, train and give feedback to the medical team, both on a general level and on a case-by-case basisEnsure medical team's performance secures, i.e.
the fulfillment of contracts and agreed service levels, as well as customer satisfactionProvide advice and support to the management team, Viking Travel Care's medical team and coordinatorsWork as contact doctor on medical cases and medical transport cases, including:Active contact with hospitals and doctors all over the worldActive contact with patients and relativesEvaluation of medical information, writing medical assessments and transport ordersQuality assessments and audits, as well as feedback on complaintsRepresent Viking Travel Care in meetings with insurance companies, customers etc.QualificationsQualified medical doctor with specialization, preferably within aviation medicine, anaesthesiology, surgery or emergency medicine.
Other specializations can also be relevant.Broad experience in travel assistance medical cases, i.e.
travel insurance; emergency cases, surgical procedures, travel medicine, aviation medicine.Fluent in Norwegian, Finnish, Danish or Swedish, and proficiency in written and spoken English.
Additional languages e.g.
Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Italian or other, is a plus.Excellent communication skillsEmpathic and service-mindedA team player with good collaboration skillsProactive and structured, with high quality focusIndependent and self-drivenLeadership and management experienceExperienced user of digital tools and IT systemsWorkplacePreferably in Spain, alternatively in one of the Nordic countries; Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland.
In Spain, we have offices in Torrevieja outside Alicante and a new office in Fuengirola, outside Malaga.Employment typeFull-time position.
